DF 9/2016: “The Innovation Zone: Unleashing the Mindset” will focus on factors that contribute towards inculcating innovation and catalysing growth of an organisation. Being a great leader is much more than just maximising profit. It is about inculcating innovation to bring upon sustainable growth and business performance.

Directors are to leverage their business experiences to innovate the way businesses grow through a corporate culture that correlates to the level of performance that the company wishes to achieve. It focuses on how directors can contribute to the promotion of an innovation agenda within their company and behave as innovation leaders to support the top management team of their company in stimulating, steering and sustaining innovation.


About Malaysian Directors Academy (MINDA)

The Malaysian Directors Academy (MINDA) was established in December 2006 following the launch of the Government-Linked Companies (GLCs) Transformation Programme Initiatives. MINDA is a non-profit organisation under the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MoF Inc) umbrella. MINDA’s objective is to address Board performance by equipping Directors of Companies, namely Public Listed Companies, Government-Linked Companies (GLCs), MoF Inc Companies etc. with world-class knowledge, skills and mindset required to perform to a consistently high standard. It’s strategy to achieve this is by assisting Directors and Boards in focusing on their fundamental roles and responsibilities such as Corporate Governance, Long term Strategy Setting, Finance, Corporate Performance Management, development of Future Leaders, Risks Management, Innovation and Creativity.

Learning Philosophy


MINDA’s Learning Philosophy focuses on the Learner, i.e. the Learners’ experiences and needs that they want to bring back to the Boardroom. Our Unique Learning Value Proposition (Figure 1) not only focuses on Knowledge and Skills, but also on Mindset Learning. Onboarding methodology involves facilitated learning through active interactions, dynamic discussions and the use of case studies.


Ross Dawson 

Ross Dawson is globally recognised as a leading strategy advisor, entrepreneur, keynote speaker, and bestselling author.

He is Founding Chairman of four companies: international consulting and ventures firm Advanced Human Technologies, futures think-tank Future Exploration Network, events company The Insight Exchange, and mobile start-up MultiDimension Corp.

Strong demand for Ross’s expertise has seen him deliver keynote speeches across six continents and consult to leading organisations worldwide such as Ernst & Young, Macquarie Bank, Microsoft, News Corporation, Procter & Gamble and many others.

He is author of the bestseller Developing Knowledge-Based Client Relationships, now out in its second edition, the acclaimed book Living Networks, which foresaw the social networking revolution, the highly successful Implementing Enterprise 2.0, and Getting Results From Crowds. He also writes the highly influential Trends in the Living Networks blog, and has published over 100 articles in leading publications worldwide.

Ross’s frequent media appearances include CNN, Bloomberg TV, SkyNews, European Business Network, Channel News Asia, ABC TV, Today and Sunrise shows, New York Times, The Guardian and many others.

Ross has run executive education programs and lectured at numerous academic institutions around the world, including the University of Virginia, Australian Graduate School of Management, Singapore Institute of Management and the Institute of Banking and Finance.

Previously Ross worked in senior positions in London, Tokyo and Sydney with organisations including Merrill Lynch, NCR and most recently Thomson Financial as Global Director – Capital Markets. He holds a B.Sc (Hons) from Bristol University and a Grad.Dip in Applied Finance from Macquarie University, and is certified as a Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). He has extensive international business experience, and speaks five languages.

Naser Jaafar

Naser Jaafar is the Chief Operating Officer at Agensi Inovasi Malaysia (AIM). His team is responsible for creating wealth  through  innovation via strategic  equity  investment  in game changing and high impact innovative  start-­‐ups and commercialisation of innovations from public and private universities and research institutes as well as from the industry. Naser is also responsible for the collaboration between industry and academia via Steinbeis Malaysia Foundation.

Naser also heads the team at AIM, which is the joint secretariat with The National Science and Research Council for the Investment Committee of Public Funds (ICPF). This team is responsible for the monitoring, evaluation, development of KPIs and Performance Management of all the public funds for Research, Development and Commercialization (R,D&C) in Malaysia.

Prior to joining AIM, Naser was with Bank of America Merrill Lynch Malaysia for 22 years, of which from 2002 to 2012, as the Chief Executive Officer. Naser has served various positions at the Bank in Malaysia, Singapore and   Jakarta. Naser received his Masters of Business Administration from North Texas State University, USA in   1987.

Programme Fee

RM12,000 per participant (The fee includes programme materials, accommodation, airport transfers, food and beverage. However, it excludes airfare which is to be borne by the participant)

*HRDF claimable – Skim Bantuan Latihan (SBL) Employers who are registered with Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Berhad (PSMB) are eligible to claim for reimbursement from HRDF.
